This is not background music. It does as much of the work as the breath. Tap any panel to read more.
Every IMD sound journey was made by Brendon, the founder. He built the music and the sound, and chose the breathing, and his is the voice you hear guiding you the whole way through.
This voice is recorded. The same journey, made with care, every single time. The breath, the sound, the journey, and the voice, all one piece.
You wear an eye mask and headphones. The outside world drops away. No sights, no distractions, no one watching. Just you, the breath, and the sound. This is what helps you to fully let go.
You don't hear one flat track. You hear many layers of sound, built to move. The music rises and falls to carry you through the journey, and different tones and beats move around your head, left, right, front, back. It feels three dimensional, like the sound is all around you, not just playing in your ears.
The sound is not background music. It is doing as much of the work as the breath.
There is more than one voice in the journey, and each one is placed on purpose.
The main voice, up front. This is Brendon, guiding you. Telling you how to breathe, when to go deeper, when to soften. This is the voice you follow.
The voices underneath, soft and in the background. These sit quietly behind the music. You're not meant to focus on them. They carry gentle, positive messages your mind can take in while your attention stays on the breath.
One voice to follow. The others working quietly underneath. Together they keep you guided without you having to think.
The sound isn't only there to feel nice. It's built to gently shift the state of your brain.
Your brain runs at different speeds depending on how you feel, fast and busy when you're thinking and stressed, slower and calmer when you're relaxed. When your brain hears a steady, repeating sound, it slowly falls into step with it. So the right sound can guide a busy mind toward a calmer, deeper place. This is why the journey can take you somewhere you couldn't reach just by trying to relax.
This is also why headphones are a must. Some of the sound only works when each ear hears a slightly different tone. Your brain blends the two and settles toward calm. Without headphones, that effect is lost.
The music is matched to your breathing. As the breath speeds up, the music lifts. As the breath slows, the music settles. The rhythm of the sound becomes something for your body to follow, like a pacemaker, so you don't have to count or think. You just listen, and your breath follows the sound.
The breath works on your body. The sound works on your brain. Both pull in the same direction, at the same time. That's why it works so well.
An IMD journey is built like a film. It has a beginning, a peak, and a soft landing.
The build. The breath and music slowly rise together. Your body begins to wake up and energy starts to move.
The peak. This is the deepest part. Whatever has been held in the body has space to come up and move. Some people cry, some feel things shift, some go quiet. You don't have to make anything happen. You just breathe.
The landing, the last 20 minutes. The breath returns to normal. The music softens. Brendon guides you through two gentle visualisations. This is the most important part. It's the time your body needs to settle, so what came up has time to rest and stay with you. People finish feeling calm, grounded, and complete.
